Q: How was your experience of playing in Australia as a Test cricketer?
A: It was a dream come true to play Test cricket for India. Test cricket is the ultimate challenge as it tests both physical and mental abilities. Playing in Australia taught me a lot about bowling consistently in the right areas. Even though it was my first tour, I gained valuable experience that will help me in the future.
Q: You bowled well in Australia but didnโt get wickets. How do you view your performance?
A: As a fast bowler, I believe focusing on performance rather than results reduces pressure. My preparation and strategies worked well, and I was 99% satisfied. While I didnโt take wickets, I learned from my spells and am focusing on improving further.

Q: How do you compare your game before and after the Australia tour?
A: Iโve grown a lot as a cricketer. Test cricket demands continuous improvement, and I strive to learn something new every day. My focus is on contributing to the teamโs success, whether with the ball or the bat.
Q: Were you disappointed about not getting wickets despite creating pressure?
A: Not at all. I understand that cricket is unpredictable, and results are not always in our control. Instead of dwelling on missed opportunities, I focus on what I can do better in the future.
Q: How was your experience playing under Rohit Sharmaโs captaincy?
A: Rohit Bhai is an excellent captain who keeps things simple, making it easy for players to perform. He creates a supportive environment where even new players feel comfortable.
Q: Which moments from the Australia tour are most memorable for you?
A: My spell at the MCG, where I bowled continuously for seven to eight overs, stands out. Though I didnโt take wickets, the pressure I created helped the team. On the batting front, my performance in Brisbane earned me a promotion in the batting order, which was a proud moment.
Q: What are your thoughts on white-ball cricket and the upcoming series?
A: Iโm excited about challenges like the Champions Trophy and the ODI series against England. Maintaining fitness and form is crucial, and Iโm preparing to perform at my best in these formats.
Q: How do you view your batting contributions as a bowler?
A: Lower-order runs are critical in close matches. Even scoring 20-30 runs can make a big difference. Iโm working on improving my batting to contribute more effectively.
Q: You used to have long conversations with assistant coach Morne Morkel in the nets. Tell us a little about that. Also, you bowled with Bumrah, how much did you benefit from that?
A: I talk to Bumrah bhai. He is a different kind of bowler. God has made everything different in him. His action is different and it is difficult to become like him. We cannot learn everything from him, but we get to learn technical things like his mindset, his thinking, and his ability to read batsmen. This helps a lot.
