Jay Shah’s Tenure and Achievements as BCCI Secretary

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is always in the news. Be it IPL or international cricket… Shah has often been seen cheering the players. Being the son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he has also been criticized many times. Now Jay Shah while talking about his performance has commented on the IPL held during the Corona period. Other major leagues were canceled due to the Corona issue, but we have managed to hold the IPL season on Dubai soil, he says.

Controversies and Challenges

Jay Shah has been in charge of Indian cricket as the BCCI Secretary for the past few years. During his tenure, BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board were often at loggerheads. Shah opposed hosting the entire Asia Cup in Pakistan. Then India’s matches were played at a neutral venue i.e. Sri Lanka.

Jay Shah Says Power When Jay Shah was asked about the biggest availability of his tenure, he touched on various issues. He said that even with a big problem like Corona, I was able to organize IPL in UAE in 2020, which is my biggest achievement. At that time, major competitions like the Olympics, English Premier League, and French Open were postponed. Some competitions had to be canceled. But then we showed the whole world what BCCI can do. Jay Shah was talking to ‘The Times of India’.

Future Prospects and Recent Performances:

The twenty-20 World Cup will be played on the soil of the West Indies and America from next June. Practice matches will be played before this. A warm-up match between India and Bangladesh will be played on June 1. The Indian team was a strong contender in the 2023 World Cup. But, India, who reached the final after winning ten matches in a row, lost to the mighty Australia. The hosts were defeated by Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Team India had won 10 matches in a row to reach the finals, but the Rohit Sharma-led team could not register a victory over Pat Cummins’ team. Thus, after 2011, India’s dream of becoming world champions was once again unfulfilled.
