Root Becomes a Serial Hero
Joe Root now holds the record for winning the Player of the Series award for the most number of times in the history of the World Test Championship so far. England won the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka 2-1. Joe Root was awarded the Player of the Series award for his best performance in the series.
Joe Root scored a total of 375 runs in the series against Sri Lanka with the help of 2 centuries and a half-century. With this performance, he won the Man of the Series award for the fourth time in the history of the World Test Championship. Ashwin previously held the record for most wickets in the WTC. The spinner of Team India has recorded the record of becoming Man of the Series three times so far.

Apart from Ashwin, Joe Root also surpassed Ben Stokes and Kane Williamson to win the Man of the Series award for the fourth time in the World Test Championship. He has surpassed Graham Gooch, Andrew Strauss, and James Anderson. These players of England have shown the feat of becoming owners 5-5 times each.
