The second team to advance to the knockout round of the Asia Cup 2023 was determined after the India vs. Nepal match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Monday. In the Group A clash on September 4, India won the toss and elected to bowl first. Nepal set a target of 231 runs in 48.2 overs, with the match being affected by rain and following the Duckworth-Lewis rule. India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, chased down the revised target of 145 runs in 23 overs, winning by 10 wickets.
With this victory, India became the second country to reach the knockout round in 2023, following Pakistan’s earlier qualification. The two teams advancing to the Super 4 from Group A are India and Pakistan. However, the other two teams from Group B will be determined in today’s match on September 5.
Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will face off at the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan. Sri Lanka aims to secure a place in the Super-4 with a win, but if they succeed, Bangladesh will also progress to the next stage of the Asia Cup 2023.
