Asia Cup 2025: Big news is coming out for Asian cricket fans. According to the latest media reports, the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 can be organized in September this year. On the other hand, this time the tournament will be played in T20 format keeping in mind the T20 World Cup to be held in early 2026.
Asia Cup 2025 in T20 Format with 8 Teams
A total of 8 teams are going to participate in the upcoming Asia Cup season. Currently, Hong Kong and Oman are looking for places to compete in the continental tournament. However, Nepal, which made it to the last T20 World Cup, has not been able to qualify for the upcoming season of the Asia Cup, due to which it will not be seen playing this time.
Also, this time the tournament is not hosted by either India or Pakistan. Both countries do not have the right to host any Asia Cup till 2031. If the reports of Cricbuzz regarding the upcoming Asia Cup are to be believed, then it could be any one country between Sri Lanka and UAE.

19 Matches in the Asia Cup 2025 Edition
Cricbuzz’s report on the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 said that a major recent decision of the ACC (Asian Cricket Council) was that the tournament should be held in a neutral country when the hosting turn is of India or Pakistan.
Let us tell you that a total of 19 matches will be played in the 2025 Asia Cup season including the final. While in the 2027 and 2031 seasons, a total of 13 matches will be played due to the ODI format. In the 2029 Asia Cup season, once again 19 matches will be seen.
Also, the hosting rights of the 2029 Asia Cup were with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), but due to India, this season will be organized by a neutral country ACC, because the Board of Control for Cricket in India has not sent Team India to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 apart from Asia Cup 2023. The Indian team is the defending champion of the Asia Cup.
