In the wake of the ODI World Cup, eight Australian players will remain in India. Cricket Australia has unveiled a 15-member squad for a 5-match Twenty20 series against India.
Australia is still vying for a spot in the World Cup semi-finals. The India-Australia Twenty20 series starts on November 23 in Visakhapatnam, led by Matthew Wade.
Notable players in the squad include David Warner, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa. Reserve player Tanveer Sangha will also stay in India, along with Josh English and Sean Abbott from the World Cup squad.
IPL stars Tim David, Matt Short, and Nathan Ellis are joining the series in India. Pat Cummins, however, is returning home, as he has been rested for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan and West Indies.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, and Cameron Green have opted out of the Twenty20 series against India and are also heading home.
The Australia T20 squad is as follows: Matthew Wade (captain), Jason Behrendorff, Sean Abbott, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Tanvir Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, and Adam Zampa.
The schedule for the series is as follows:
- 1st Twenty20: November 23 in Visakhapatnam
- 2nd Twenty20: November 26 in Thiruvananthapuram
- 3rd Twenty20: November 28 in Guwahati
- 4th Twenty20: December 1 in Nagpur
- 5th Twenty20: December 3 in Hyderabad.
