In the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Sri Lanka faced Australia. Sri Lanka had a strong start with Kusal Perera and Pathum Nisanka scoring 125 runs together. But Australia fought back, taking wickets.
Pat Cummins got the first wicket, dismissing Nisanka after he made 61 off 67 balls. Perera was bowled out by Cummins for 78 after scoring 82 balls with 12 fours.
Adam Zampa then took two crucial wickets, removing Captain Kusal Mendis and Sadira Samarawickrama. The match was interrupted due to rain.
Mitchell Starc joined the action, dismissing Dhananjaya de Silva. Zampa continued his good form by taking Chamika Karunaratne and Mahish Thikshana’s wickets.
Starc bowled an amazing delivery for a hat-trick, getting rid of Lahiru Kumara. Sri Lanka’s innings ended at 209 for 8.
