Babar Azam Named ICC Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year 2024

ICC has recently announced the Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year award. The ICC announces the Cricketer of the Year award annually in December. This year, ICC announced four players as nominees in the T20 format, and former Pakistan team captain Babar Azam was chosen as the ICC Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year.

Babar Azam Leads the Pack Among Four Nominees

The first nominee is the young Indian bowler Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep Singh has taken 36 wickets in 18 matches while performing brilliantly in the T20 format this year.

The second name in this list is that of Zimbabwe team captain Sikandar Raja. Shortlisted for the third consecutive time. Sikandar Raja performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup Qualifier matches, scoring 199 runs and taking 10 wickets.

The third name in the list is that of former Pakistan team captain Babar Azam. He has also recently set the record for scoring the most runs in the T20 format. This year, he scored the most runs for Pakistan with a strike rate of 133. That’s why Babar Azam became ICC Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year 2024.

The fourth and final nominee is Travis Head. This year he has scored 539 runs with an impressive strike rate of 178. He is the second-highest run scorer for Australia. He also performed very well in the IPL this year.
