The captain failed to score runs in three consecutive innings and returned disappointingly in the last innings of the tour. Chasing an easy target of 145 runs, a mistake by Rahul again cost the team heavily. He lost his wicket for 2 runs on the ball of Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan. Due to this early wicket fall, the team got into trouble. Cheteshwar Pujara was dismissed immediately after Rahul and in compulsion, the Indian team had to field Akshar Patel as a night watchman.


What is Nightwatchman Term:

Nightwatchman term is used in test cricket. If the leading batsmen lose their wickets in the last session of the match. So in the last minute, the main batsman of the team should not lose his wicket, so as to use the remaining overs. While changing the batting order, the batsman is fielded from the lower order. The word night watchman is used for this term. After the dismissals of KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara on the third day in the second innings of the Mirpur Test, Akshar Patel was sent as a night watchman.
