Poor Performance and Coaching Changes
BCB President Farooq Ahmed told ESPN, “There are two cases of misconduct against Chandika Hathurusingha. The first case is about attacking a player. Second, he took more leave than the contract.”
Recently the Bangladesh team visited India. During this, a series of 2 Tests and 3 T20 matches were played between the two teams. The Indian team had won all the matches. The Indian team won the first Test played in Chennai by 280 runs. The second Test match of the series was played in Kanpur. The Indian team won this rain-affected match by 7 wickets.

Mixed Results During Tenure
The experienced Sri Lankan cricketer joined the Bangladesh team for the second time as head coach in February last year.
Under Chandika Hathurusingha’s guidance, the team performed poorly in the World Cup in India in October 2023 and later in the T20 World Cup.
- The only notable performance from Bangladesh during his tenure
- came in the Pakistan tour, where the Nazmul Shanto-led team won the Test series 2–0.
Recently, during their tour of India, Bangladesh faced a tough challenge. In the Test series, India won the first match by 280 runs and the second rain-affected match by 7 wickets. Following this, the two teams played three T20 matches, where India also achieved a clean sweep. India won the first T20 by 7 wickets, the second by 86 runs, and the last match by 133 runs.
Chandika Hathurusingha’s suspension and the team’s poor performance highlight the challenges facing Bangladesh cricket as they look to rebuild and perform better in future tournaments.
