BCCI Consults New Zealand Doctor for Jasprit Bumrah’s Injury

Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update: Whether Team India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will play in the Champions Trophy or not is a question that is in the mind of every fan at this time.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Champions Trophy Participation Uncertain

BCCI has included Bumrah’s name in the Champions Trophy squad, but it will depend on his back injury whether he will play in the upcoming ICC tournament or not. Now BCCI has decided to seek help from a New Zealand doctor.

According to the Times of India report, orthopaedic surgeon Dr Rowan Scouten in New Zealand will assess his back injury. After his report and feedback, it will be considered whether Bumrah has to go to New Zealand or not. Only after his examination, it will be decided whether he will play in the Champions Trophy or not.

Bumrah May Travel to New Zealand for Treatment

According to the report, the BCCI is already planning a backup, as Bumrah can perform well enough to get fit in time for the ICC Champions Trophy next month. Jasprit Bumrah has also been selected for the last ODI against England which is to be played on February 12, but it is very unlikely that he will play in that match against England.

The last date for making changes in the squad for the Champions Trophy is February 11. Before that, India can make as many changes in the squad as they want without the permission of the ICC. The selectors have already decided the name of Harshit Rana for the first two ODIs against England. It will be interesting to see who is included in Team India in place of Bumrah if he is not fit for the Champions Trophy.

Medical Team Working on Bumrah’s Recovery

A BCCI source said, β€˜The BCCI medical team is in touch with Scouten in New Zealand. The board had planned to send Bumrah to New Zealand. But this has not happened yet. The selectors know that it would be a miracle if Bumrah becomes 100% fit in the given time.’ Schouten operated on Bumrah after he was ruled out of the T20 World Cup in 2022.
