Possible Hybrid Model for the Champions Trophy

BCCI sources gave this information to ANI. Relations between India and Pakistan have deteriorated. Relations between the two countries have not been good for some time now. The final decision will rest with the central government. That is why there has not been a single bilateral series between the two countries. India-Pakistan meet each other only on the occasion of the ICC tournament and Asia Cup.

In 2023, Pakistan got the title of hosting the Asia Cup. Even then, the Indian team had not toured Pakistan. The tournament itself was organized in a hybrid model. Four matches were played in Pakistan and other matches were played in Sri Lanka. Team India played all their matches in Sri Lanka. The final was also held there. BCCI may propose a hybrid model to ICC this time too.

Draft Schedule for India’s Matches

According to the draft schedule, Team India has to play all its matches in Lahore. Team India will play their first match against Bangladesh on February 20. The second match will be against New Zealand on February 23. The third match of the group stage could take place on March 1 against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Final Decision

The final decision on whether India will play in Pakistan or not will be made by the Indian government. India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series in years, meeting only during ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup. The BCCI’s proposal for a hybrid model aims to ensure the safety and comfort of the Indian team while maintaining the spirit of the tournament.
