BCCI has fixed the date of interview on December 29 for the selection of the new selection committee.

BCCI Chief Selection Interview: After the dismissal of the Chetan Sharma Committee, the new committee will be selected. For that, the interview of the selectors is possible on 29th December. In this, a decision will also be taken regarding Chetan Sharma.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Ashok Malhotra, Sulakshana Naik, and Jatin Paranjpe is likely to interview potential candidates for the new national selection committee in Mumbai on 29 December. It is believed that BCCI is in the process of shortlisting the names for the interview. It is being speculated that the chairman of the previous selection committee, Chetan Sharma, along with his colleague from the central region, Harvinder Singh, is very likely to make it to the list.

An unknown BCCI source told ‘PTI on the condition of confidentiality, ‘If everything goes well, the CAC meeting is to be held in Mumbai on December 29. During this, there will also be an interview of the selected names. Till then Chetan Sharma and his committee have been given time to expand till the formation of the new committee, the old committee will keep its eye on the Ranji Trophy matches. Chetan and his colleague Harvinder were in Delhi to watch the home team’s match against Tamil Nadu, while Sunil Joshi was in Hyderabad watching the match between Assam and Hyderabad.

According to sources, this information was given only yesterday that he would have to watch the matches of this round. It is also expected that both Chetan and Harvinder are likely to be interviewed again by the CAC. Both of them can be seen holding the post of the selector of their respective regions.

BCCI sources keeping an eye on this development believe that the board has not got a suitable number of names for this post. According to sources the salary offered is not enough to attract the best talent. A package (salary) of Rs 1.25 crore for the chairman and Rs 1 crore for other members is not considered attractive.

The source said, “Chetan has a good chance of continuing in the selection committee as chairman or at least as a representative of North Zone. If sources are to be believed, the BCCI did not get the name of any former player. Why would Chetan apply if he didn’t have the chance? He must have gotten some assurance, that’s why he has applied.
