BCCI shortlists 20 players for World Cup, commentator Harsha Bhogle shares possible list.

On the very first day of the year, the BCCI made many big decisions during the review meeting. During the review meeting, 20 players were shortlisted by the BCCI for the World Cup. At present, the names of these players have not been revealed.

After facing defeat in the T20 World Cup, the Indian team is busy preparing for the 2023 World Cup. Many important decisions were taken in the BCCI review meeting on the first day of the year. In the presence of coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma, the BCCI has shortlisted 20 key players for the World Cup to be hosted by India.

The purpose of shortlisting these players is that they will be rotated for workload management before the World Cup. Although the list of these 20 players has not been revealed. No information has been received about them yet. But well-known commentator Harsha Bhogle has welcomed this decision of BCCI and shared the list of 21 players who would have been shortlisted by BCCl.

According to him, those 21 names are- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, the Parshid Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.

I would imagine this is the core that selectors & team management would work with: Rohit, Rahul, Gill, Virat, Shreyas, Ishan, Rishabh, Sky, Samson, Pandya, Axar, Jadeja, Washington, Kuldeep, Chahal, Bumrah, Shami, Arshdeep, Prasidh, Siraj, Shardul. This is 21. My next 2: Patidar & Umran

Apart from this, he has included 2 more names in which Rajat Patidar and fast bowler Umran Malik are there. The meeting lasted for about 3 hours and several key issues were discussed, such as the workload of the players and priority in international cricket and bilateral cricket series.

If we talk about Team India last year, hardly as many players would have been injured as in 2022. There are names like Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and KL Rahul who stayed away from the field due to one injury or the other.
