BCCI Appoints VVS Laxman as Interim Coach for South Africa Tour
Team India is currently playing a Test series against New Zealand, two matches of which have been completed. New Zealand has won the series by winning both matches. The third match will start in Mumbai on November 1. Before this, the BCCI has made a big decision. The Indian Cricket Board has taken this decision regarding the coach. The BCCI can appoint a new coach on Team India’s next tour.
After the New Zealand series, the Indian team will go on a tour of South Africa where it has to play a four-match T20 series. The team has also been announced for this series, but Gautam Gambhir will not go on this tour as a coach. In his place, NCA chief VVS Laxman will take over the responsibility of the coach.
If the report of the website Cricbuzz is to be believed, Laxman will be sent as the head coach on the South Africa tour. A senior BCCI official has confirmed this to Cricbuzz. The coaching staff will also be new to him. Sairaj Bahutule, Rishikesh Kanitkar, and Subhadeep Ghosh will also be part of the coaching staff on the South Africa tour. All of them had recently gone with India-A in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup.
This decision was taken because Gambhir will be touring Australia where Team India will play a five-match Test series. After the New Zealand series, Gambhir will be preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, so Laxman is being sent to South Africa in his place.

Fresh Faces Get the Nod in T20 Squad
Ajit Agarkar’s Senior Selection Committee has selected the team for the South Africa tour, including three new faces: Yash Dayal, Ramandeep Singh, and Vijay Kumar. They have not selected Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar, and Nitish Reddy, who were part of the T20 team during the Bangladesh series, as these players have been chosen for the Test series instead.
