BCCI’s tough stance on star players playing in IPL 2023, franchises may face problems.

BCCI Review Meeting Decisions: The BCCI took a review meeting on the first day of the new year i.e. January 1 regarding the performance of Team India last year. In this, the Cricket Control Board of India has also taken a big decision regarding the playing of the star players of Team India in the IPL. This can increase the tension of the franchises.

BCCI took a big decision on players playing IPL in a review meeting NCA will work with IPL franchises to monitor the workload of star players. BCCI has taken this step regarding the ODI World Cup to be held in India this year

Team India last won the ODI World Cup in 2011 at home. This time also the ODI World Cup is going to start in India only. This time the Indian team management wants to win the title at any cost. The Indian team had to face defeat in the T20 World Cup for two consecutive years.

Due to this, the Indian team management has taken some tough decisions. For this, BCCI took many big decisions on the first day of the new year. January 1. Keeping in mind the preparations for the ODI World Cup, the BCCI took a big decision regarding the star players of the Indian team in IPL 2023. This decision of the BCCI can become a cause of trouble for the franchisees.

In the statement issued by the BCCI after the meeting, it has been said that in view of the future tour program of the Men’s Cricket Team and preparations for the 2023 ODI World Cup, the players shortlisted for the National Cricket Academy ODI World Cup will be selected for the IPL 2023. The IPL will work closely with the franchisees to monitor the stakeholders. This departure of BCCI can become a cause of trouble for the franchisees.

20 players have been shortlisted by the BCCI for the 2023 World Cup. Regarding the safety and fitness of the players, BCCI has asked NCA to work with IPL teams on workload management. It is clear from this that BCCI will keep a close watch on the shortlisted players. How many matches will they play in the IPL, and when is rest necessary for them? It will be decided by the NCA.

NCA will have control over these players:

The NCA will have the authority to manage the workload of those star players during the IPL. It includes Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, Jaspreet Bumrah, and Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya, besides Chennai Super Kings pacers Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja.

All players who play an important role for the Indian team in terms of the ODI World Cup have a history of injury. NCA will manage the workload for them. According to the new decision, the BCCI can now interface with the IPL to reduce the workload of star players if needed. Players facing repeated injuries will now have the right to play in IPL only after the permission of NCA or NOC.

This decision is going to increase the tension for the franchisee. This can prove to be a troublesome decision for the franchisee. Because the franchisee has spent crores of rupees on buying these players. In such a situation, after this order of the BCCI, it will be necessary for them to give rest to the players during IPL.

On this issue, a franchise official told InsideSport, it is a problem. Players make IPL the best, not the franchise. That’s why it is necessary to take care of them. No one would want Deepak Chahar or Shreyas Iyer to miss the entire IPL. They are important to the brand IPL. But at the same time, we have to manage their workload carefully so that they do not get hurt. After this decision of the BCCI, players in the IPL will have to be brought into the field of thinking. This decision can increase the problems of franchisees.
