Dawid Malan played a pivotal role with his exceptional innings, amassing 96 runs off 95 deliveries, and stabilizing the top order. While Joe Root fell short of a big score, Ben Stokes stole the spotlight with a sensational knock, notching up a colossal 182 runs in just 124 balls. Skipper Jos Buttler’s contribution of 38 runs bolstered England’s total, propelling them to a formidable 368 runs in their first innings.
New Zealand faced a daunting chase of 369 runs, but their quest got off to a disastrous start as openers Devon Conway and Will Young managed just 9 and 12 runs, respectively.
