Rohit Sharma’s Update on Mohammad Shami’s Fitness: Uncertain for Australia Tour
The Indian cricket team is to play the first Test match against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Before this match, Team India captain Rohit Sharma has given a big update about Mohammad Shami’s fitness and his playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, after which there has been a stir. According to Rohit’s statement, it is very difficult for Shami to go on the Australia tour.
Shami has been out of the team since the ODI World Cup played in India last year. The reason for this is his injury. He also underwent surgery in January this year. Right now he is working on his injury at the NCA in Bengaluru.

Shami’s Injury and Recovery
Before the Test series started against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma gave an update about Shami’s injury and his going on the Australia tour in a press conference on Tuesday.
He said, “It is difficult to decide about Shami for the Australia series. He has swelling in his knees due to which he has lagged behind a bit and he will have to start again. He is in the NCA. We do not want to take Shami to Australia which is not fully ready. Let’s see what happens.”
Shami is one of the main bowlers of India. His seam and swing bowling can trouble any batsman on any wicket. If he does not go on the Australia tour, it will be a big loss for India. His absence will increase the responsibility of Jasprit Bumrah.

Focus on Australia’s Test Series
The Indian team does not want to take any kind of risk regarding the series against Australia. Team India will be eyeing to win the third consecutive Test series in Australia under Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy. India had earlier defeated Australia in the Test series in the years 2018-19 and 2020-21. This time Team India would like to make a hat-trick of winning the Test series in Australia and for this it is necessary that it takes a strong team. A team whose players are fit and in form.
In Shami’s absence, other bowlers will have to step up, as the team looks forward to competing against a strong Australian side in their backyard.
