Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and women’s opener Smriti Mandhana have been honored with the ICC Player of the Month award for June. This marks the first time that athletes from the same country have won both the men’s and women’s awards in the same month. In the men’s category, Bumrah was chosen over Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz. For the women’s category, England’s Maia Bouchier and Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne were also in the running.

Jasprit Bumrah’s impressive performance in the T20 World Cup was a key factor in his win. He played in 8 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 4.17 and taking 15 wickets, making him the second-highest wicket-taker for Team India. He also received the Man of the Series award for his contributions. Upon receiving the ICC Player of the Month award, Bumrah expressed his gratitude and congratulated Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for their performances.
