Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan to Host, Indian Matches Likely in UAE Due to Hybrid Model

Champions Trophy 2025

The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be held in Pakistan. However, the Indian team is unlikely to participate in it directly.  For the Indian team, the Champions Trophy is likely to be shifted to a hybrid model. According to PTI, Team India will play its games at a neutral venue in the UAE as government approval for safe travel to Pakistan is unlikely to be issued.

Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan has completed almost all the preparations for this mega event. Major venues including Gaddafi Stadium and Multan Stadium are being renovated by the Pakistan Cricket Board. This work is going on under the supervision of PCB President Mohsin Naqvi. However, a final date has not yet been fixed for this. Because a decision has not been taken yet regarding the Indian team. At present, a new venue is being determined for India where the team will play the Champions Trophy.

The 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai almost ended the political relations between India and Pakistan. The teams of India and Pakistan face each other only in ICC tournaments. Due to the security concerns of the Indian team, the government is not ready to send the team to Pakistan. The Indian team will not be able to go to Pakistan under any circumstances in the Champions Trophy 2025.

Champions Trophy 2025: ICC Considers UAE as Neutral Venue for Indian Matches

Keeping in mind the political circumstances, PTI reported that there is a preparation to shift the Champions Trophy 2025 to a hybrid model. This can avoid unavoidable circumstances. Therefore, all the matches of India will be shifted to UAE. The final and other knockout games are also expected to be held out of Pakistan. Cricket fans are now awaiting the ICC’s final decision.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will take over as the President of the ICC on December 1. Therefore, it is being speculated that the participation of the Indian team will be decided after that.

Full efforts of PCB and captain Mohammad Rizwan:

On the one hand, the Indian government is not intending to send its team to Pakistan under any circumstances. On the other hand, the PCB is trying to persuade India to participate in the Champions Trophy 2025 games at all costs. The PCB promised to expedite the visa process for Indian fans who wish to travel to Pakistan. Pakistan’s white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has also promised that he will take full care of the security of the Indian team. There will be no lapse in his security. But considering the political environment, BCCI’s hands are tied and this decision is completely dependent on the government.
