Chloe Tryon Makes Stunning Comeback for Exciting New Zealand Series!

In a significant announcement, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has unveiled the 16-player squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. The hard-hitting all-rounder, Chloe Tryon, has made a comeback to the national squad after her last T20I appearance in February 2023 and her last ODI outing in July 2022. Her return is expected to add firepower to the team’s batting and all-rounder capabilities.

Laura Wolvaardt, the newly appointed interim captain of the national women’s team, will continue to lead the side during the New Zealand series, set to commence on September 24. CSA has maintained squad consistency, refraining from dropping any players from the squad currently competing in the ongoing ODIs in Pakistan.

The three-match ODI series will take place in Potchefstroom, Pietermaritzburg, and Durban and is part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25. Preceding the ODIs, there will be a one-off warm-up match between New Zealand XI and South Africa XI at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

Despite facing a whitewash in their maiden T20I series in Pakistan, South Africa has shown resilience and determination. The team is keen to carry the momentum from the ODI format into the New Zealand tour.

The squad for the series includes Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Mieke de Ridder, Lara Goodall, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Sune Luus, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukhune, Nondumiso Shangase, Chloe Tryon, Delmi Tucker, and Laura Wolvaardt.

Clinton du Preez, Proteas Women Convenor of Selectors, expressed his satisfaction with squad consistency and the return of Chloe Tryon, highlighting her all-round qualities. He emphasized the team’s determination to carry forward their recent learnings and experiences.

Enoch Nkwe, CSA Director of Cricket, expressed immense pride in the team’s progress in Pakistan and their resilience in challenging conditions. He eagerly anticipates the clash against New Zealand, which includes three ODIs and five T20Is, marking a thrilling moment for South African cricket.

The T20I series is scheduled from October 6 to 15, with the first three matches to be held in Buffalo Park, East London, and the final two games in Benoni. South African cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the return of their Proteas Women to home soil, anticipating exciting performances against New Zealand.
