Shakib Al Hasan Arrest Warrant: Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is going through a difficult phase. It is known that the International Cricket Council has recently banned him from bowling in any league associated with domestic and foreign boards.
Shakib Misses Out on Champions Trophy 2025
The Bangladesh cricket team announced its team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but the name of star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is missing from the team sheet. He was not selected in the team due to being banned by the ICC.
The troubles for Shakib did not end there. On Sunday, 19 January, a Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against Shakib Al Hasan and three others. The case is related to a bounced check at the IFIC Bank branch in the capital.

Legal Issues Add to Shakib’s Woes
According to the report of Daily Star, Bangladesh, all four were to appear in court, but this did not happen. Due to this, Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ziauddin Rahman ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant.
This is not the first time that Shakib has been summoned by the court. Shakib was also ordered to appear in court in December 2024. The bank’s relationship officer had filed a case in this matter, in which the payment of a check of 4,14,57,000 taka (about Rs 3 crore) was rejected.
Decline in Performance
Along with legal matters, Shakib’s performance has also been disappointing for some time. In the five Test matches played in 2024, he scored only 155 runs, his average was 19.37. At the same time, he also took only 13 wickets in bowling.
His performance in the T20 format was even worse. In 12 T20 Internationals, Shakib scored only 169 runs and his average was only 16.90. In bowling too, he could take only nine wickets. The 37-year-old, who has been part of the team in the Asia Cup final three times, has not played a single match in 2025 so far.
Bangladesh fans and cricket experts are worried about Shakib’s condition. It remains to be seen whether Shakib can overcome these challenges and return to the field.
