North Sound – The Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) continued their winning start in the Caribbean Premier League 2025 with a commanding 83-run victory over the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) in Match 10 on Saturday.
Hope and Hetmyer Shine with the Bat
Put in to bat first, the Amazon Warriors posted an imposing 211 for 3 in their 20 overs.
Opener Shai Hope anchored the innings with a well-paced 82 off 54 balls, finding boundaries at will after a cautious start. Shimron Hetmyer stole the show at the other end, smashing a fiery 65 from just 26 deliveries, decorated with five sixes and five fours.
The duo added a 106-run stand off only 44 balls, taking the Warriors from a solid start to an explosive finish. Romario Shepherd chipped in with a quick 25 off eight balls* to push the total beyond 200.
Tahir Turns Back the Clock
Chasing 212, the Falcons began aggressively, racing to 58 inside four overs. But once the openers fell, the innings never recovered.
Skipper Imran Tahir, at 46 years old, rolled back the years with a sensational spell of 5 for 21, his best-ever figures in CPL. He picked up a double-wicket maiden in his first over, removing Shakib Al Hasan and Imad Wasim, and then dismantled the middle order with his variations.
Romario Shepherd (2/16) and Dwaine Pretorius (2/44) supported well as the Falcons were bowled out for 128 in 15.2 overs.
