Cricket in the 2028 Olympics Brings Joy, But Commonwealth Games Shock Indian Fans

India’s Medal Hopes Diminished

India had medal hopes in three of these games. What’s more, the last Commonwealth Games was held in Birmingham, England. Archery and shooting were not included in this competition. These games will not be played in the next tournament either. The main reason why so many sports are excluded from the competition is financial.

India had won 61 medals in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. He won 12 medals in wrestling, 10 in weightlifting, 8 in athletics, and 7 medals each in boxing and table tennis. Indian women’s cricket team also won the silver medal.

Commonwealth Games 2026 to Be Held in Glasgow

Commonwealth Games 2026 will be held in Sydney. But Australia has taken up the cause, advancing the economic cause. Therefore, this competition has been decided to be held in Glasgow. While adjusting the financial math, Glasgow devised a plan. It has also been recognized by the Commonwealth Federation.

India has won most medals in sports like Hockey, Wrestling, Badminton, and Shooting. Indian team has won 135 medals in shooting. India has won 31 medals in Badminton. India has won 114 medals in wrestling. 5 medals in hockey and 3 medals in women’s hockey.

In a statement, the Commonwealth Games explained, “Glasgow CWG organizers said that the Games program will include Athletics and Para Athletics, Boxing, Bowls and Para Bowls, Swimming and Para Swimming, Gymnastics, Track Cycling and Para Track Cycling, Netball, Weight Lifting, and Para There will be weight lifting, powerlifting, judo, 3X3 basketball, and 3X3 wheelchair basketball competitions.
