ENG vs IND 2nd Test: The Indian cricket team is on the brink of achieving a historic Test victory against England at Edgbaston. This match is the second in a five-match Test series and is taking place in Birmingham. On the final day, Team India set a challenging target of 608 runs for England. India’s performance has been outstanding in both batting and bowling.
In the first innings, India scored 587 runs, thanks to a brilliant double-century from Shubman Gill. In reply, England managed 407 runs, mostly due to the big partnership between Harry Brook and Jamie Smith. However, India still had a strong lead. In the second innings, India again batted well and then declared, giving England a nearly impossible target of 608.
ENG vs IND 2nd Test Day 5: England’s Batting Struggles Continue
England’s batting order has completely collapsed in both innings of this Test. In the second innings, they lost three wickets for just 23 runs. India again struck early, reducing them to 153/6.
This kind of batting collapse by England has not been seen in 15 years. The last time this happened was in 2009 when Australia managed to take five wickets under 100 runs in both innings of a Test at Headingley. That time, England lost five wickets at 63 and 78 runs in each innings. Now, India has repeated the same kind of dominance.
No Bumrah, No Problem for India
One big talking point of this Test match has been the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. The star Indian fast bowler was rested for this match due to workload management. Bumrah had played in the first Test and took a five-wicket haul in the first innings.
Despite his absence, the Indian bowlers have performed brilliantly. Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj have led the bowling attack with full control and aggression. Team India had already announced that Bumrah would play only three out of the five Tests in this series.
Now, all eyes are on Day 5 – can India grab the final 4 wickets and register their first-ever Test win at Edgbaston?
