Mohammed Siraj’s Six Wickets Turn the Tide for India at Edgbaston in Test Series
Siraj gave India two big wickets on the morning of Day 3. He dismissed Joe Root (22) and Ben Stokes (0) on two consecutive balls in the same over. Both were caught behind by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Stokes got out on a golden duck.
Later, Siraj sent Chris Woakes back for 5 runs. His final two wickets were Josh Tongue and Shoaib Bashir, both dismissed for ducks. Tongue was trapped LBW, while Bashir’s stumps were rattled with a sharp nip-backer.
Akash Deep Shines in Bumrah’s Absence
With Jasprit Bumrah rested, India gave a chance to Akash Deep, and he did not disappoint. Akash took 4 wickets, including the important wicket of Harry Brook, who was batting on 158. Brook had made a 303-run partnership with Jamie Smith (184). Akash finally broke the stand and gave India the much-needed breakthrough.
England Collapses Despite Brook-Smith Partnership
While Brook (158) and Smith (184) added 303 runs for the 6th wicket, the rest of England’s batters managed only 46 runs. Six England batsmen got out without scoring – including Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope.
England were bowled out for 407 in 89.3 overs.
