Ravindra Jadeja’s Half Century in 2nd Test: The first day of the second Test match between India and England at Edgbaston was all about Captain Shubman Gill. Gill scored his second century in a row in this series, completing a hat-trick of Test centuries against England.
He found great support from Ravindra Jadeja, and together they stayed unbeaten with a 99-run partnership for the sixth wicket at stumps on Day 1.
On Day 2, the pair continued to bat well and added 104 more runs, taking the partnership to 203 runs. This strong stand helped India take control of the match.
Ravindra Jadeja Misses Century but Makes WTC History
Ravindra Jadeja looked set for a century but was dismissed for 89 runs from 137 balls, which included 10 fours and 1 six. He fell short by 11 runs after Josh Tongue got him caught by Jamie Smith. Although Jadeja missed out on a hundred, he created World Test Championship (WTC) history.
Jadeja has now scored 2,000 runs in the WTC across 41 matches. He has hit 3 centuries and 13 half-centuries. But even more special, Jadeja has also taken 100 wickets in WTC games, becoming the first player in WTC history to score 2,000+ runs and take 100+ wickets.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Also Misses His Ton
Similar to Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal nearly reached a century as well. The young opener scored 87 runs off 107 balls, hitting 13 boundaries. He fell short of achieving his second century of the series by just 13 runs.
India’s strong batting effort on the first two days has put them in a solid position in this Test match.
