In a report by Google, Shubman Gill claimed the top spot among the most searched cricketers, surpassing the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
According to Google Trends 2023, India’s Gill ranked as the most searched player in the cricket category this year, with New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra securing the second position.
Google released a comprehensive list encompassing various fields, highlighting the most sought-after individuals, movies, and more.
Reflecting on the sports sector, the year witnessed significant tournaments such as the ODI World Cup, IPL, Asia Cup, and Women’s Premier League.
Interestingly, even during the World Cup, the IPL drew the highest search interest. 2023 stood out as a remarkable year for Shubman Gill. He showcased exceptional batting prowess.
Emerging as the highest run-scorer in the IPL 2023 season, Gill secured the coveted Orange Cap for the first time. Additionally, Gill achieved the feat of being the top run-scorer across all three cricket formats in 2023, participating in 45 international matches and amassing 2,118 runs at an average of 50.42.
Gill also etched his name in history by scoring a double century in ODIs this year, becoming the fourth Indian to achieve this milestone with an impressive 208 off 149 balls against New Zealand.
