Preparing a fantasy team involves analyzing player roles, their past performances, and the match conditions. Here’s a breakdown of how our system evaluates and categorizes players:

• Understanding Player Roles:

  Every player is assigned a role—Wicketkeeper (WK), Batsman (BAT), All-rounder (ALL), or Bowler (BOWL). The system ensures that your team has a balanced mix of these roles to maximize points in all aspects of the game.

• Key Metrics Evaluated:

  The algorithm considers the following performance metrics to calculate prediction points (PP) for each player:

  • Avg FPTs (Fantasy Points): The average fantasy points a player has earned in recent matches. This indicates their overall consistency.
  • vs Opp: How well a player has performed against the same opponent in past games. For instance, a bowler who consistently takes wickets against a specific team will score higher here.
  • at Venue: Players perform differently on various pitches and grounds. This metric evaluates their past performances at the match venue.
  • 1st Inn and 2nd Inn Avg FPTs: These metrics are crucial for assessing a player’s performance based on the toss:
    • 1st Inn: If a player is likely to play in the first innings, their impact in that phase is prioritized. For example, openers and frontline bowlers often perform well in the first innings.
    • 2nd Inn: Evaluates players who perform under pressure, such as finishers or death-over specialists.
• Adjustments Based on Toss:

  The toss changes the dynamics of a match. Here’s how our system adapts:

  • Pre-Toss: If toss details are unavailable, the system uses an average of 1st and 2nd Inn performances for balanced player evaluation.
  • Post-Toss: After the toss, we refine the evaluation:
    • 1st Inn Performance is prioritized if the player’s team is batting first.
    • 2nd Inn Performance is prioritized if the player’s team is bowling first.
• Risk vs Reward Balance:

  Players are categorized into three groups for strategic selection:

  • Must-Have Picks: These are the top-performing players with the highest prediction points. They are consistent and reliable.
  • Similar Picks: Players with points close to the Must-Have category. They provide safe alternatives.
  • Risky Players: Players with lower prediction points. These are high-risk, high-reward options that can set you apart in contests.
• Team Composition:

  The system ensures your team has the right balance of roles:

  • 1-8 Wicketkeepers (WK)
  • 1-8 Batsmen (BAT)
  • 1-8 All-rounders (ALL)
  • 1-8 Bowlers (BOWL)

  This balance helps cover all match phases, from batting to bowling and all-round contributions.

Suggestions for Fantasy Players

• Use the System as a Guide: While the system provides data-driven recommendations, unexpected match conditions (like pitch or weather changes) can affect player performance. Always verify before finalizing your team.
• Make Small Adjustments: Use the recommended players as a base and tweak your team based on personal insights. For instance, pick players you trust for certain conditions or matchups.
• Track Toss Updates: Always update your team after the toss. The toss decision (bat or bowl) directly impacts player performance and is accounted for in the system.
• Add Differentiators: To stand out, include a few Risky Players who might deliver a breakout performance.
