Steyn’s IPL Career and Coaching

Steyn has represented Deccan Chargers, RCB, Sunrisers, and Gujarat Lions in the IPL during his career. Dale last represented RCB in 2020 before being named Sunrisers bowling coach a few years later. During his stint at SRH, Steyn mentored several Indian fast bowlers, one of them being Umran Malik.

Ahead of IPL 2025, Dale Steyn has announced that he will not return as the bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Looking Ahead

He further said that I would continue to work with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20 in South Africa. Earlier this year, Steyn made himself unavailable for IPL 2024 due to personal reasons, and Sunrisers appointed former New Zealand cricketer James Franklin as their bowling coach to work with head coach Daniel Vettori.

Steyn wrote in a post on X that thank you very much to Sunrisers Hyderabad for a few years with me as bowling coach in IPL. Unfortunately, I will not be back for IPL 2025.
