For the fielding coach position, T. Dilip, who has earned a solid reputation and built strong relationships with players, is likely to continue. His performance as the fielding coach has been commendable, and he is expected to travel with the team to Colombo.
The new bowling coach remains undecided, but South African bowler Morne Morkel is a frontrunner. Morkel has previously worked with Gambhir at the Lucknow Super Giants. Other names, such as Zaheer Khan and L. Balaji, have also been considered, but Morkel’s announcement is expected soon.

Assistant Coaches and Team Departure
According to reports from Cricbuzz, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate are likely to be appointed as assistant coaches under Gautam Gambhir. Nayar, a trusted ally of Gambhir, has played a significant role in the success of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Players like Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer have credited him for their performances last season.
The Indian team is set to depart for Sri Lanka from Mumbai on a chartered flight on Monday at 1 PM. Before the departure, BCCI will formally announce Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach in a press conference scheduled for July 22 at a five-star hotel in Andheri, Mumbai. This event is expected to be attended by captain Rohit Sharma and T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav.
