Deepak Chahar on CSK: Chennai Super Kings retain five players ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Mathisha Pathirana, and Shivam Dubey have been retained.
The franchise has lost Rs 65 crore and will enter the auction with Rs 55 crore in their purse. Five retentions also give five-time champions the option to use a right-to-match card.
Deepak Chahar Speaks on Release from CSK
A surprise release from the CSK camp was fast bowler Deepak Chahar. The right-arm fast bowler has been associated with the team since 2018 and his omission has raised many eyebrows. But the 32-year-old has expressed optimism and said the franchise will bid for him and wants to see himself in yellow again.
It is worth noting that Chahar was released before the mega auction of IPL 2022 and was bought for 14 crores.
Even in the last mega auction, I was not retained by my team. However, they did everything possible to bring me back. I’m uncertain about what will happen this year. But I know that teams are consistently scoring around 90 to 100 runs in the powerplay.
This trend means that my skills will be even more valued, as teams are frequently surpassing 200 runs. I have demonstrated my worth during limited overs, especially at that crucial stage of the game,” Chahar was quoted as saying by TOI.
Chahar Hopes to Rejoin or Join Rajasthan Royals
“I think they will bid for me again. I want to wear the yellow jersey again and if not then I want Rajasthan Royals to bid for me,” he added.
Although IPL 2022 saw Deepak Chahar bought for a whopping 14 crores, he couldn’t participate due to injury. He played a key role in helping CSK win three titles in 2018, 2021, and 2023. Initially seen as a death-over specialist. Chahar’s ability to swing the ball led to his preference for bowling in the powerplay.
