Deepti Sharma Reaches Second in ICC Women's ODI Bowling Rankings

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma on Tuesday reached a career-best second position in the ICC’s new women’s ODI bowlers rankings. She has reached this position after a brilliant performance in the first two ODIs against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

Deepti overtook Kate Cross and Megan Shut to reach the second position with the best 687 rating points of her career so far. She is now only 83 points behind Sophie Ecclestone.

Performance Highlights in the ODI Series

A three-match women’s ODI series is played between India and New Zealand. India won the series 2-1. In the first two matches of this ODI series, Deepti has taken wickets with an economy of 3.42. Deepti is also in third place in the T20 rankings and she is only behind Sophie Ecclestone and Sadia Iqbal. New Zealand captain Sophie Devine has achieved her career-best 8th position in the batting rankings after her innings of 79 runs in the second match.

Deepti, who played an important role in the team’s victory by scoring 41 runs and taking one wicket for 35 runs in the first match, has also moved up one place to fourth position in the all-rounders’ list. Similarly, Devine, who took three wickets for 27 runs in the second match, has also moved from ninth to seventh position in the all-rounders’ rankings. In the bowling rankings too, Devine has moved up 9 places to 30th position.
