East Delhi Riders made history by winning the first-ever Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20 title. In a thrilling final at Arun Jaitley Stadium, they defeated South Delhi Superstars by just 3 runs. The star of the match was Mayank Rawat, who played a crucial knock of 78 not out, smashing 7 fours and 6 sixes. His brilliant batting helped East Delhi post a total of 183/5. Simarjeet Singh and Raunak Vaghela shone with the ball, both taking 3 wickets each to secure a close victory.

East Delhi Riders Set a Competitive Target
After winning the toss, East Delhi Riders chose to bat first. However, they lost their openers early, with Anuj Rawat scoring just 10 and Sujal Singh making only 5 runs. At 27/2 in 4.5 overs, the team was under pressure. Himmat Singh and Hardik Sharma tried to steady the innings with a 24-run partnership, but both were dismissed before the 10th over.
Then, Mayank Rawat took charge and played a match-winning innings. His aggressive 78* at a strike rate of 200, supported by Harsh’s 17*, helped East Delhi Riders set a target of 184 runs for South Delhi Superstars.

South Delhi Superstars Fall Short in a Close Chase
Chasing 184, South Delhi Superstars struggled at the start, losing early wickets. Priyansh Arya (6) and Ayush Badoni (7) were dismissed cheaply, putting pressure on the middle order. Impact player Kunwar Bidhuri tried to stabilize the innings with 22 runs, but the team kept losing wickets.
Tejaswi Dahiya’s brilliant knock of 68 from 42 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes, gave South Delhi hope. However, after Dahiya’s dismissal, the team needed 26 runs from 12 balls. Despite a late fight from Digvesh Rathi (21*), South Delhi Superstars fell just 3 runs short, finishing their innings at 180/9 in 20 overs.
East Delhi Riders emerged victorious, claiming the first DPL title with a thrilling 3-run win.
