Dunith Wellalage Wins ICC Player of the Month
Sri Lanka won the ODI series against India 3-0. Indian batting was a complete failure in this series. Dunith Wellalage was the most important player among the Sri Lankan bowlers who made Team India cry. He won the title of serial hero in this series. Along with this, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has now selected Dunith Wellalage of the Sri Lankan cricket team as the player of the month for August.

Impressive Performance Against India
The young Sri Lankan all-rounder won the award beating South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj and West Indies’ Jayden Seals. Dunith Wellalage’s performance in August was excellent. Sri Lanka’s Dunith Wellalage played an unbeaten 67 in the first match of the series and took the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the bowling. He then scored 39 runs in the second ODI of the series. In the third match of the series, he took 5 important wickets. He played a vital role in the team’s victory in the entire series by taking 108 runs and 7 wickets.

Competitors’ Performances
Keshav Maharaj bowled well in the Test series against the West Indies cricket team last month. He took 13 wickets in 2 matches at an average of 16. He took 8 wickets in the first Test and 5 wickets in the second Test. Seals took 12 wickets at an average of 18 in the Test series against South Africa. He took a total of 9 wickets (3/45 and 6/61) in the second Test of the series
