India champion team has given a winning start to the World Champions League tournament. India beat England by 3 wickets in the opening match. England champions challenged India champions by 166 runs for victory. India completed this challenge with 6 balls to spare at the cost of 7 wickets. Birthday boy Harbhajan Singh hit a six when Team India needed 6 runs to win. Harbhajan also gave a birthday gift to Team India in the form of victory. England has faced defeat. Opener Robin Uthappa scored the highest 50 runs for Team India.

Robin Uthappa scored 50 runs in 32 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes for India champions. Gurukirat Singh Mann contributed 33 runs. Naman Ojha added 25 runs. Suresh Raina got out after scoring 16 runs. A big innings was expected from captain Yuvraj Singh. But Yuvraj could score only 2 runs. Irfan Pathan added 22 runs. R Vinay Kumar went to zero as soon as he came. The duo of Yusuf Pathan and Harbhajan Singh led to victory. Yusuf scored 5 runs and Harbhajan scored 6 runs. Chris Schofield took the most 4 wickets from England. Ravi Bopara took 2 wickets.
