ECB Plans to Ban Players from Overseas T20 Leagues
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is preparing to ban England cricketers who leave the IPL and play in T20 leagues around the world. According to a report in the Telegraph, the ECB fears that its players may leave domestic cricket for large-scale franchises.
The ECB is considering ways to save domestic cricket and it is believed that it will not allow its players to play in other leagues except the IPL. The report said that the countries believe that the players are looking at England’s domestic games as a backup.
They feel that the players use their club’s training and medical facilities throughout the year, but leave domestic matches to play in other leagues. In such a situation, the ECB is planning to take strict action against such players.
To address this issue, the ECB is planning to take strict measures against players who abandon domestic matches for overseas leagues. Last year, 16 England players played in the PSL and this year, the schedule of Major League Cricket, Global T20 Canada, Caribbean Premier League, and Zimbabwe Afro T10 has also clashed with England’s domestic season. The ECB may release a comprehensive policy in this regard next week.
This policy could reshape how England players manage their participation in global T20 leagues while maintaining their commitment to domestic cricket.
