Brook Acknowledges the Challenge
After the match, Harry Brook said, “We bowled well to limit Australia to 270 runs, which is a good result at Headingley. However, we lost wickets early in the powerplay, which made it hard to chase the target. Our set batsmen did not take responsibility, and we kept losing wickets regularly.” He added that despite the challenges, his team had followed the plan but couldn’t execute it as hoped.

Australia batted first and posted 270 runs, thanks to solid half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey. In response, England’s batting collapsed, with the team managing only 202 runs in 40.2 overs. Despite efforts from the middle and lower order, England fell short by 68 runs.
