ENG vs IND 4th Test: Joe Root Hits 150, India Bowlers Struggle

England resumed the third day at 225/2. Star batter Joe Root, who was unbeaten on 11* overnight, played a masterful knock of 150 runs. He completed his 38th Test century, equaling Kumar Sangakkara’s tally and moving up in the all-time run-scorer charts.

Ollie Pope supported Root well and scored 71 runs. However, Harry Brook failed to make an impact and was dismissed for just 3 runs. Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith added only 9 runs, while Chris Woakes was bowled for 4 runs by Mohammed Siraj.

Despite a few quick wickets, England kept the scoreboard ticking and built a solid first-innings total.

Indian Bowlers Couldn’t Break Through

The Indian bowling unit struggled throughout the day. England batted for 135 overs and made full use of a flat pitch. Among Indian bowlers:

  • Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar took 2 wickets each

  • Jasprit Bumrah, Anshul Kamboj, and Mohammed Siraj took 1 wicket each

However, wickets did not come easily, and the Indian bowlers looked tired as the day progressed. With two full days remaining in the match, India will now hope to make a comeback in their second innings.
