England Announced Playing XI for 1st ODI Against India

England Playing XI for 1st ODI: The England Team have announced their Playing XI for the first ODI of the three-match series against India. The match will be played at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6, and will see star batsman Joe Root make his return to ODIs after a long absence.

England Reveals Playing XI for 1st ODI vs India

Similar to the T20 series, where they lost 1-4, the visitors have retained their opening batsmen, while Root will complete the top-order. At number four will be Harry Brook, who is yet to prove himself in sub-continental conditions.

England captain Jos Buttler will bat at number five, however, his role behind the wicket as a wicketkeeper is uncertain and it is safe to assume that Salt will replace him.

The lower-middle order will be handled by all-rounders Liam Livingstone and Brydon Carse, while Jacob Bethell is also expected to play a finisher role with the bat, while Carse will take charge as one of the fast bowlers.

He will be joined by Jofra Archer and Shakib Mahmood, while experienced spinner Adil Rashid is the only specialist spinner. However, Root could be used as a spinner, with Livingstone also set to take advantage of Englandโ€™s bowling.
