England Levels Series with West Indies Thanks to Livingstone’s First ODI Century

On the strength of Liam Livingstone’s first ODI century, England defeated West Indies in the second ODI match played in North Sound and leveled the three-match series 1-1. Livingstone was captaining England in this match. He led the team from the front and achieved the target of 329 runs set by West Indies in 47.3 overs.

West Indies scored 328 runs by losing six wickets in the stipulated 50 overs based on captain Shai Hope’s 117 runs. They thought that this score would be safe for them and that they would win the series by winning this match, but inexperienced England dashed their hopes. England’s Aggressive Chase

England started the run chase in their style and scored runs quickly. However, they got the first blow early. Matthew Ford showed Will Jacks the way to the pavilion. Jacks scored 12 runs off 11 balls. Jordan Cox could also score only four runs and fell prey to Shamar Joseph. Phil Salt was scoring runs fast from the other end. He was joined by Jacob Bethell. Both of them together took charge of the team and added 44 runs for the third wicket. Ford ended Salt’s half-century innings at a total score of 107. Salt played an innings of 59 runs with the help of eight fours in 59 balls.

Jacob also got out at a total score of 160. He scored 55 runs with the help of four fours and two sixes in 57 balls. After this, Livingstone and Sam Curran brought England back into the match by making a century partnership. There was a partnership of 140 runs between the two. Curran scored 52 runs in 52 balls. Curran hit three fours and a six in his innings. When Curran was out, England’s team was close to victory. Livingstone completed the formalities of victory and got England a tie in the series.

Hope’s Heroics Fall Short

Earlier, England won the toss and invited West Indies to bat first. The host team had a very bad start. By the time the score reached 12 runs, it lost both of its openers. Brendan King became the victim of John Turner after scoring seven runs. Evin Lewis also got caught in Turner’s trap on a personal score of four runs. After this, Casey Carty and Captain Hope took charge of the team. Both batted without haste and played their shots after getting a foothold. Carty got caught in Adil Rashid’s spin after scoring 71 runs and was bowled. He scored 71 runs in 77 balls with the help of five fours and a six.

Captain Hope remained on the wicket. He was supported by Sherfane Rutherford. Hope shared a 79-run partnership with Rutherford. Rutherford scored 54 runs in 36 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. Shimron Hetmyer scored 24 runs in 11 balls. Hope was dismissed by Jofra Archer on the last ball of the 47th over. Hope scored these runs in his century innings with the help of eight fours and four sixes in 127 balls. In the end, Roston Chase remained unbeaten on 20 and Matthew Forde on 23.
