Fakhar Zaman Ruled Out of Champions Trophy: Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat against New Zealand in their opening match of the Champions Trophy at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday. The Mohammad Rizwan-led team had a disappointing performance as they lost by 60 runs and failed to chase down the target of 320 set by the Kiwis.

The southpaw suffered a back injury while fielding in the opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand. While fans may not see Fakhar on the field, he has shown his support for the team through his heartfelt posts on social media.
“It is the honour and dream of every cricketer in this country to represent Pakistan on the biggest stage. I have been honoured to represent Pakistan with pride many times. Unfortunately, I am now out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but Allah is the best planner. “Thankful for this opportunity. I will support our players on home soil. This is just the beginning, the comeback will be stronger than the defeat. Long live Pakistan,” Fakhar wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Imam-ul-Haq Joins as Replacement
Following Fakhar Zaman’s injury, the team and management have finally decided to bring in his former opening partner Imam-ul-Haq as a replacement player. The ICC’s Event Technical Committee has also approved the transfer to the team and he will be making a comeback to ODI cricket after two years.
Talking about Imam’s performance, he has played 72 ODIs and scored 3,138 runs at an average of 48.27. He has scored 20 half-centuries and nine centuries in this format. This will be a great opportunity for the 29-year-old to make a comeback.
