Gavaskar Criticizes Team India: India lost by 6 wickets in the fifth and final Test played against Australia in Sydney. Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is also very angry over the defeat against Australia and not being able to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
It is worth noting that with this win, Australia won the series 3-1 and captured the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time since 2014-15. With this win, the Australian team reached the final of the World Test Championship against South Africa at Lord’s in June.
Gavaskar’s Angry Remarks
In a video that went viral on social media, Gavaskar, along with former India fast bowler Irfan Pathan, can be seen talking to the host broadcaster after the match.
When the anchor asked what India should do to improve after the series defeat, Gavaskar said-
“Who are we? We don’t know cricket. We only speak for TV and earn money, don’t listen to us, we are nothing. Listen with one ear, take it out from the other.”

These words of Sunil Gavaskar seem to be a response to Rohit Sharma’s statements to some extent. Actually, in an interview given during the Sydney Test, Rohit Sharma stated his critics –
“No one can tell me what to do by taking a laptop, holding a mic or writing something. I am a sensible man, I am mature, I am the father of two children, so I have a little brain about what I want in life.
That is why these words of Gavaskar are like directly targeting the coach, captain and the Indian team.
Gavaskar’s Previous Criticism
Gavaskar had criticized Rishabh Pant for his irresponsible shot-selection when the team needed to build a partnership on the third day of the fourth Test against Australia in Melbourne and called him an idiot.
