Gerald Coetzee Injury: South Africa’s fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second Test match against Sri Lanka. Due to a groin injury, Coetzee will not be a part of the upcoming series against Pakistan, which starts on December 10 and runs until January 7.
Fast bowler Gerald faced difficulty on the fourth day of the match, and after that, he went for a scan.
Gerald Coetzee Ruled Out Due to Injury
Regarding Coetzee’s injury, Cricket South Africa has said that the scan has revealed a strain in his muscle. According to Cricket South Africa, Gerald Coetzee will take four to six weeks to recover. Due to the injury, he may be out of some matches of the SA20 League.
This tournament will start on January 9. He is a part of the Joburg Super Kings team and his first match will be against MI Cape Town on January 11.
After Gerald’s injury, fast bowler Kwena Mphaka was included on the team for the second test against Sri Lanka. The second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka will start on December 5. A statement issued by Cricket South Africa said, “South Africa fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lanka and the upcoming all-format tour against Pakistan due to injury.”

Gujarat Titans Also Affected
Coetzee took a total of 4 wickets in the first Test, which South Africa won by 233 runs. As far as the second Test is concerned, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Yansin are considered fit. The other fast bowler in the team is Dan Peterson as Lungi Ngidi will be unavailable till January while Nandre Berger is out of the entire summer season due to a stress fracture in the lower back.
Gujarat Titans have also suffered a major setback due to the injury of Gerald Coetzee. Gujarat Titans bought him for 2.40 crores in the mega auction. He will be an important part of the team’s fast bowling unit order, so the GT franchise would like him to recover from the injury as soon as possible.
