GT vs CSK 1st Match IPL 2023
In their first match of the IPL, GT defeated CSK by 5 wickets. GT won the toss and elected to bowl first as the previous trend showed that batting in the second innings was easier on the Narendra Modi Stadium track. While batting first, CSK lost their first wicket of Conway at a total of 14 runs. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad played beautifully from the other end and scored 92 runs in just 50 balls, hitting 9 sixes and 4 fours. Along with him, Moeen Ali scored 23 runs in 17 balls, and in the 20th over, MSD scored a quick-fire 14 runs in 7 balls. Due to this, CSK set a target of 178 runs in front of GT.
During the second innings, GT made a quick start and scored 36 runs in 3.3 overs without any loss. However, in the next ball, W Shah lost his wicket. Shubman Gill from the other end continued playing his shots and scored 63 runs in just 36 balls. With the help of handy contributions from other batsmen, GT easily chased down the target. In the bowling department, Shami and Rashid Khan from GT’s side bowled economically and took 2-2 wickets each, while from CSK’s side, Rajvardhan Hangar was exceptional and took 3 wickets.
