Struggles with Shaw
Ponting highlighted Shaw’s potential and why his lack of progress is particularly disappointing. “Prithvi is different. He is a player that every team would like to have. He was the first choice because of his skills. He has had the chance to represent India as a young player and even scored a century in his first Test. But This year, we couldn’t find a place for him in our DC team. It is disappointing for me as a coach that I could not improve some players and get the best out of them.”
Ponting emphasized the efforts made to enhance Shaw’s performance. “I have had a lot of conversations with him. I tried very hard to make him a better cricketer, but it did not happen.”

Prithvi Shaw’s Career
Prithvi Shaw has played 5 Test matches, scoring 339 runs, including a century and two half-centuries. He has also played 6 ODIs and one T20I for India. His last appearance for India was in 2021. Ponting’s comments reflect the high expectations and the hope that Shaw will realize his potential and make a significant impact in the future.
