Rohit Sharma on Dropping Catch: If Rohit Sharma had caught that easy catch of Jakar Ali, Akshar Patel would have had many records. Rohit Sharma Regrets Dropping Catch in Champions Trophy 2025
On Thursday, February 20, the second match of the Champions Trophy between India and Bangladesh was played in Dubai.
In this match, Bangladesh’s team came out to bat first after winning the toss. The bowling of Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana wreaked havoc, while Akshar Patel broke down on opposition batsmen in the 9th over. Akshar Patel was on a hat-trick after Tanjid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim were dismissed from back-to-back balls.
Akshar Patel had trapped the new batsman Zakar Ali in his trap, but in the slip, Rohit Sharma dripped a little catch. Rohit expressed his disappointment by slapping the ground, but due to his mistake, Akshar missed his first hat-trick in the Champions Trophy.

Rohit’s Promise to Akshar Patel
After the match, Rohit Sharma spoke about the dropped catch. He said,
“I can take him to dinner tomorrow (laughs). No, it was an easy catch, I should have taken it according to my standard. But I know such things happen. Credit to Zakar and Hridaya, they built a good partnership.”
At the same time, Jakar Ali took full advantage of this life and shared a 154-run partnership with Tauheed Hridaya to show the team 200 runs. This is the biggest partnership for any wicket for Bangladesh in ODI cricket. Bangladesh set a target of 229 runs ahead of India, which Team India achieved with Shubman Gill’s century with 6 wickets.
