ICC CWC 2023: Unveiling the Fair Tie-Breaker Rules for ICC CWC 2023 Semi-Finals and Finals

ICC CWC 2023 Tie-Breaker Rules: The Cricket World Cup tournament in India has reached its final stage. India will face New Zealand in the first semi-final on November 15, and South Africa will take on Australia in the second semi-final on November 16.

Not a single match has been tied in this year’s World Cup. Cricket enthusiasts are curious about how tie-breakers will work in the semi-finals and finals. This time, however, the semi-final or final match of the World Cup will not see a controversial rule like the boundary count, as witnessed in the last World Cup’s final.

The last World Cup’s final between England and New Zealand was incredibly thrilling. The match ended in a tie, and even the subsequent Super Over was tied. This Super Over was the first in the history of ODI cricket.

In the end, England was declared the winner based on a boundary count. However, this decision sparked a lot of controversy. Following that, the ICC removed this rule in October 2019.

If the semi-final or final match is tied this time, the result won’t be decided by boundary count. Instead, a Super Over will be played. In the event of a tie in the Super Over, another Super Over will follow.

The sequence of Super Overs will continue until a result is declared. So, now if any match is tied, the excitement of the game will double.
