ICC Refers to Gabba pitch below average

During the first Test match between Australia and South Africa, there were many reactions regarding the pitch. During this match, this pitch was criticized a lot. Now the ICC has considered it to be below average level. This clearly means that now this pitch has got a demerit point.

The report has been sent to the Cricket Australia Board by the ICC. Now the Australian Cricket Board will have to bear the brunt of this. In fact, the recent match between South Africa and Australia, which took place at Gabba, Brisbane, has been declared by the ICC as below average. During this match, 34 wickets fell in just 2 days. Australia easily won that match by 6 wickets.

The average level of runs in the match was very low. It seemed as if this pitch was made only for the bowlers. In that match, the South African team was dismissed for 152 runs in the first innings and only 99 runs in the second innings. Australia had scored 218 runs in the first innings. ICC match referee Richie Richardson said “Overall the pitch at the Gabba favored the bowlers too much in that match. There was extra bounce and erratic seam movement.

Richardson has sent a report to Cricket Australia, in which he has written that I found on this ground that the ball was coming down on the second day itself. I found the ground to be below average and there was no real contest between bat and ball.
