ICC Test Rankings 2024: There has been a significant shift in the ICC Test rankings, with several Indian players experiencing a drop in their standings. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant suffered heavy losses. Meanwhile, Joe Root continues to hold the first place in Ranking.
Top 3 Positions Unchanged, Travis Head Rises
The top three batsmen have maintained their positions in the latest ICC Test rankings. Australian batsman Travis Head’s ranking has jumped significantly, climbing to the fourth position with a rating of 825.
Indian Players Suffer Ranking Drops
Yashasvi Jaiswal slipped to fifth place, now holding a rating of 805. Rishabh Pant has also dropped out of the top 10 list. Virat Kohli has reached number 21 after falling one place. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma’s ranking has dropped by five points. He has reached 35th place. Shubman Gill’s ranking has also dropped.
Travis Head and Steve Smith’s ranking has benefited. Joe Root remains in the first position. Even after the ICC made changes in the ranking, England’s Joe Root is the number-1 Test batsman. His rating is 895. Harry Brook is in the second position. With a rating of 876, he is the second-ranked batsman in Test matches. Kane Williamson is in the third position with a rating of 867.
Sri Lankan batsman Kamendu Mendis reached sixth place with a rating of 759, South Africa’s Temba Bavuma reached seventh place with a rating of 753, New Zealand’s Diril Mitchell reached eighth place with a rating of 725 and Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel reached ninth place with a rating of 724. Australian batsman Steve Smith’s ranking improved and he reached 10th place with a rating of 721. With a drop in Rishabh Pant’s ranking, he fell out of the top 10 list. He reached 11th place with a rating of 708.
